Humak mourns death of 3 students in Jyväskylä road mishap

The Humak University of Applied Sciences (Humanistinen ammattikorkeakoulu) on Wednesday mourned the death of its three students who were killed in a road accident in Jyväskylä on Tuesday morning.

The accident took place at about 7:40 am on road number 9 when a private car collided with a truck at Korpilahti area, police said.

Three people onboard the car were killed while the rest passenger of the car was injured.

Police and the Accident Investigation Board are investigating into the case.

Although police did not divulge the identities of the victims yet, the Humak authority conformed that all the deceased and the injured person were the students of Humak.

Humak is also observing a mourning day and hoisted mourning flags at all its six campus on Wednesday.

Rector of Humak Jukka Määttä in a statement expressed profound shock and empathy to the family members of the victims.

“Our thoughts are now with the relatives and loved ones (of the victims). We share their profound shock,” Määttä said in the statement, wishing recovery of the injured student .
