The service centres of Helsinki will remain closed until 28 February, said the City of Helsinki in a press release on Tuesday.

The service centres were closed on 28 December against the backdrop of worsening coronavirus situation.

The client helplines of the service centres, however, remain open normally.

“The coronavirus situation in Helsinki has deteriorated rapidly and requires us to take action. Unfortunately, we will have to continue to keep the service centres closed at least until the end of February,” said Seija Meripaasi, Director of Hospital, Rehabilitation and Care Services.

Meanwhile, Helsinki will also keep the day activities and supported group activities for the elderly closed until 28 February.

The day activities and supported group activities for the elderly have been closed since 31 December 2021 due to the intensification of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The service centres’ client helplines serve clients and their loved ones normally. Clients will be informed of the exact opening times of the services as soon as they are known.

“The coronavirus situation in Helsinki has deteriorated rapidly and requires us to take action. Unfortunately, we will have to continue to keep both day and group activities and service centres closed at least until the end of February. However, customer service is available from the service centres by phone, and we aim to find ways to maintain contact with the clients of day and group activities who need support the most,” Meripaasi added.

The staff of day activities and group activities will contact the clients who need support the most separately.
