Ex-President Ahtisaari tests positive for coronavirus again

Former President Martti Ahtisaari has been tested positive for the COVID-19 virus again. The result of the test was confirmed on Wednesday, said Office of Finnish President in a press release.
Ahtisaari is doing well under the circumstances, but stays at the hospital for the time being, the press release added.
The 82-year-old former president was also earlier infected by coronavirus on March 24, 2020. Later in April 2020 he was tested again and found coronavirus negative.
Earlier, on September 2, 2021 Ahtisaari has withdrawn from all public engagements after he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
Ahtisaari, also a Nobel Laureate, was the 10th President of the country and served from 1994 to 2000. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2008 for his contribution in international conflict resolution.
He founded the Crisis Management Initiative (CMI), an organization works to prevent and resolve conflicts through dialogue and mediation and served as its Chair of the Board.
