Daily Finland journalist Aziz passes away

Daily Finland journalist AKM Azfar Aziz died at his ancestral home in village Mamrujkandi under Matlab Upazila in Chandpur in Bangladesh on Saturday evening. He was 61.

Aziz was the Advisory Editor of Daily Finland who had been working remotely from Bangladesh since the inception of the daily in 2016.

He left his wife, one son and a daughter to mourn his death.

‘He suffered a stroke at his village home at about 7:00pm on Saturday. After falling sick, he was rushed to hospital where doctors said that he was brought dead,’ according to Yasmin Reema, a relative of Aziz.

She said that Azfar suffered from kidney, asthma and heart diseases and was a diabetic.

Born on September 5, 1960 in village Mamrujkandi under Matlab Upazila at Chandpur in Bangladesh, Aziz passed his Higher Secondary Certificate examination from Cumilla Victoria Collage and obtained his graduate and post-graduate degrees from the University of Chattogram in Bangladesh.

Azfar, a veteran journalist having experiences of working with deferent national and international news media had been doing journalism for more than four decades.

He also worked for New Age and The Daily Star, two leading English language national dailies published from Dhaka for a long.

Journalists of the Daily Finland expressed profound shock at the death of their colleague Aziz and wished salvation of his departed soul.
