FM tests positive for COVID-19

Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto was infected with coronavirus and started to work remotely, official sources said.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs in a press release late Saturday night confirmed that Haavisto tested positive for COVID-19.

“The Minister for Foreign Affairs is asymptomatic. For the time being, he is working remotely from his home,” said the press release.

The Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs have launched necessary measures in this regard .

Haavisto attended the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe held in Stockholm on 1–2 December.

Meanwhile, a lawmaker of the the Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party of Finland), Jouni Ovaska has been infected with coronavirus.

Ovaska on Saturday in twitter post wrote that he had tested positive for coronavirus.

The Keskusta MP said that he was fully vaccinated and his symptoms were mild.

Ovaska participated in a plenary session in the parliament on Thursday and some parliamentary committee meetings earlier in the week.
