Youth sentenced to 68 months imprisonment for metro station stabbing

The Helsinki District Court on Tuesday sentenced an 18-year-old person to five years and eight months imprisonment for the knife attack at Ruoholahti metro station in Helsinki in early May.

The court convicted the person as various charges including attempted murder, attempted aggravated assault and illegal threats, brought against him were proved beyond doubt.

According to the verdict, the convict tried to kill a minor with knife at the backside and then tried to attack two other people with knife and threatened to kill two other people.

The court also ordered the convict to pay about 11,685 euros to the victims as compensation and to pay the legal costs of the victims.

The convict, however, has the right to appeal against the verdict to the higher court.
