Wildfire spreads across Finland-Russia border

A wildfire originating from the Russian Karelia spread across the border to Finland on Friday, reported national broadcaster Yle.
The North Karelia Border Guard alerted the rescue department at around 16.30. The fire had only affected forest area of 0.1 hectare.
The fire was extinguished with the help of 12 rescue workers and border patrol unit and was brought to control at 10.00 in the evening.
Chief fire fighter on duty Ville-Petteri Pulkkinen said there was no information on the cause of the fire. The primary responsibility in this matter lies with the Russian authorities.
There have been a lot of wildfires in the Russian Karelia in recent times. The fire did not cause any injuries.
