The police have launched a preliminary investigation in connection to some 2,000 undelivered packages in the west coast town of Pori, reported national broadcaster Yle.

The mail delivery disruptions have mainly affected residents in eastern districts of the town, said the report.

The undelivered packages were found unopened in a locker of a Posti employee in May. It is estimated that the shipped items should have been distributed between May 2019 and February 2020.

Investigators have termed the occurrence a rare incident.
