2 killed in road mishaps in Kristiinankaupunki, Liperi

Two people were killed in separate road mishaps in Liperi and Kristiinankaupunki areas on Sunday, police said.

A teenage boy was killed in a road accident on Kuopiontie in Liperi in the early morning of Sunday.

Police said that the accident took place when a speeding car of the 17-year old boy collided with the divider of the road at about 6:00 a.m. He died on the spot.

Police said that the victim was driving the car with over speed, which might be the reason behind the accident.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was killed when his motorcycle was collided with a white-tailed Reindeer at Kasalantie in Kristiinankaupunki on Sunday.

Police said that the accident took place at about 11:00 am when he lost control after the collision.

Responding to a call, members of the law enforcing agency rushed to the spot and found the man dead.

The police and the Accident Investigation Board are investigating the accident.

They did not divulge anything more about the incident or the victim at this stage of the investigation.
