Teenage boy killed in road mishap in Porvoo

A teenage boy was killed in a road mishap in Porvoo early Sunday, police said.

The accident took place at Sikiläntie when an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) skidded off the road and collided with a roadside tree.

Driver of the ATV, a boy of 17 years died on the spot.

Responding to an alarm, members of the rescue services rushed to the scene and recovered the body from there.

Inspector of the Eastern Uusimaa Police Jere Pääkkönen said that the driver had a helmet, but its belt remained open.

The helmet was found separated from the head of the deceased and was thrown away after the accident, Pääkkönen added.

The police and the Accident Investigation Board are investigating into the case.
