16 killed in road mishaps in April

A total of 16 people were killed and 225 other injured in 186 separate road accidents accidents in the country in April, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of persons killed was four higher and that of persons injured nine lower than in April 2020.

Out of the deceased, nine travelled by passenger car, by van, by moped, by motorcycle and one by lorry and bus.

Pedestrians killed in road accidents numbered three and cyclists two. In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those who died, 11 were men and five were women.

A total of 50 people were killed 825 other injured in 675 road accidents in the country in January-April period.

The number of persons killed was 17 lower and that of persons injured 371 lower than in the corresponding period of 2020.

Of the persons who were killed, 32 travelled by passenger car, five by van and two by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered six and cyclists three. In addition, two other road users were killed.
