Woman sustains bullet wound in Helsinki,1 held

A woman sustained bullet wounds in a gun attack at Alppikylä residential area in Helsinki in early Sunday, police said.

The incident took place at about 1:40 am when a man attacked her with a firearm and fired gunshot at her.

Responding to a call, the Police rushed to the spot at Alppikylänkatu area and found a 34 years old injured woman, who sustained bullet wounds at the upper part of her body.

She was taken to the hospital, but her condition was not critical, said police.

The Police also arrested the suspect from the spot immediate after the incident on charges of attempted murder and firearms offence . The suspect is a 31 years old man and the victim and suspect were known each other.

“The Police were able to hear the suspected man and the victim. The suspected perpetrator and the injured woman knew each other, and involvements of other people are not suspected in the incident,” said Crime Inspector of Helsinki Police Hannu Kortelainen in a statement.

The Police are investigating into the incident to incident and did not divulge detail in this regard.
