Mother suspected of killing baby in Tampere

A women allegedly killed her child, who drowned at Lukonlahti area in Tampere on Saturday afternoon.

The suspect mother, who was also injured after falling down from a bridge at Pyhäjärventie area in the city, is now undergoing treatment in a hospital, police said.

Responding to an alarm, members of the rescue service and police rushed to Pyhäjärventie area at about 2:25 pm and found that a woman was injured after falling down from the bridge.

During the rescue drive, the police got another report of suspected drowning at Lukonlahti shore.

Members of the law enforcing agency rushed to the spot and found a minor child dead in the shore water.

The police suspected link between the incidents and after preliminary investigation they suspected the woman of killing her child.

The Police, however, did not divulge anything more in this regard at the initial stage of the investigation.
