Police suspect arson behind Nokia fires

The police on Monday appealed for witnesses regarding three fire outbreaks in Nokia on Sunday, said the police in a bulletin.

The police suspect that the fires were started deliberately.

The first incident of fire was reported at a decommissioned factory in Lintuniemenkatu at around 2 pm. This was followed by another fire at a former kindergarten in Ruskeepäänkatu at around 8.10 pm and the third fire was reported at a school in Harjuniity at almost the same time.

No one was injured in the fires, and material damages remained relatively small.

The police did not comment whether the Sunday’s incidents were related to a series of fires that broke out in the summer of 2020.
