2 gunned down in Turku

Two people were killed and another was injured critically when a miscreant opened fire on them in an apartment building at Perno residential area in Turku in the early morning of Saturday.

The police said the incident took place at about 4:00 am when the suspected attacker fired several rounds of gunshots.

Responding to a call, the law-enforcers rushed to the spot and found the bodies of the two deceased and the other person who sustained bullet wounds.

The police arrested the suspect, a man in his 30s, at the stairwell of the building in connection with the murders and attempted murder. The wounded was taken to hospital, said the police.

All the victims and the suspect were adults.

The police did not divulge anything more at this stage of the investigation.

“The investigation is at an early stage and the police are investigating the course of events at this stage,” said Southwest Finland Police Department Inspector of Crime Mika Paaer in a statement on Saturday.
