Finland on Monday strongly called on the parties of the conflict for a political resolution in Syria.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs made the call in a statement issued marking the 10th anniversary of the conflict in Syria, said the ministry in a press release.

(Today (Monday) marks 10 years of the conflict in Syria. Countless violations of human rights and international humanitarian law have caused enormous suffering,” reads the ministry statement.

About 60 % of the Syrian population lacks food security. Five million and six hundred Syrians are refugees, and 6.2 million people are displaced within Syria, added the statement.
