President Sauli Niinistö and Prime Minister Sanna Marin have congratulated the newly elected US president Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris for their victory in the presidential elections.
The Finnish leaders in separate Twitter posts on late Saturday night also hoped for strong relations with the new US government.
“I have congratulated @JoeBiden on his election. I look forward to continuing to build on our strong partnership with him and @Kamala Harris,” Niinistö wrote in the official Twitter page of the Finnish President office.
“My congratulations to @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris. Looking forward to cooperating on transatlantic relations,” wrote Marin in her twitter post.
Joe Biden has been elected the next US president, defeating incumbent President Donald Trump following a cliff-hanger vote count after Tuesday's election, reported the media.
The Media project with which Biden has won the key battleground of Pennsylvania, bagging 273-vote threshold of the electoral college, was required to clinch the White House.
