13 killed in road mishaps in May

A total of 13 people were killed and 306 other injured in 267 road accidents in the country in May, according Statistics Finland.
The number of persons killed was five lower and that of persons injured 101 lower than in May 2019.
Out of the persons who were killed, seven travelled by private car, one by van, two by motorcycle and one by lorry and by bus. Cyclists killed in road traffic accidents numbered two. Among those who died, eight were men and five were women.
A total of 82 people were killed and 1,505 other injured in 1,231 road traffic accidents in January to May period.
The number of persons killed was seven higher and that of persons injured 241 lower than in the corresponding period of 2019.
Of the persons who were killed, 50 travelled by private car, four by van, three by motorcycle and two by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 10 and cyclists eight. In addition, five other road users were killed.
