Armed man wounded in police fire in Järvenpää

An armed man was injured when police fired gunshot at him in central Järvenpää late Monday night, reported National broadcaster Yle.

The incident took place at about 10:00 pm when police tried to arrest him and asked to put down his arm.

The person did not pay heed to the police instructions and refused to put down arm prompting the law enforcer to fire gunshot.

According to a reporter of Yle, who was present on the spot, the man ignored police order to drop his weapon and raised his hands saying "I want to die," said the Yle report.

He sustained bullet wounds at his thigh and taken to hospital.
