Local defence exercise Lappi 20 slated for February 24–28

The Jaeger Brigade and other authorities in the Lapland region will continue with training courses on practical interoperability in inter-authority situations in the local defence exercise Lappi 20 in the Sodankylä-Kittilä-Rovaniemi region from February 24 to 28, according to an official press release.
The local defence exercise led by the Jaeger Brigade will be participated by troops from the brigade and the Lapland Air Command as well as by personnel from Lapland’s Regional State Administrative Agency, Finavia, Lapland Police Department, Lapland Border Guard District,
Lapland Hospital District, and the Rescue Services of Lapland.
A total of 300 personnel will take part in the exercise led by Jaeger Brigade’s Deputy Commander Colonel Jari Osmonen.
The defence exercise aims to develop readiness and defence capability in the Lapland region, exercise personnel in local defence tasks and missions, as well as deepen practical interoperability in inter-authority situations.
On February 26, Wednesday, the exercise will be seen in the area of Kittilä Airport as personnel and equipment of the Finnish Defence Forces, Rescue Services, Police, Border Guard, and Hospital District are on the move at the airport. The exercise area will be cordoned off, with the Military Police controlling the traffic.
