The promise that the Prime Minister Antti Rinne’'s government gave of dismantling the activation model will be realised at the turn of year, reported the national broadcaster Yle.

The timetable for dismantling the model has been shrouded in mystery, and there is still uncertainty concerning its abolition.

Minister of Social Affairs and Health Aino-Kaisa Pekonen has pointed out that the dismantling could be achieved at the turn of the year.

“The activation will be dismantled as quickly as possible. According to the ministry’s estimate the realistic implementation timetable is no earlier than 1.1.2020,” Pekonen said on Wednesday.

The unemployed have been waiting for dismantling of the activation model since the government formation talks. This has led to disappointment since nothing has happened so far.

Pekonen said the dismantling would be done “as quickly as possible, taking into account good legislation and the need for changes in Kela systems.”
