No new death, 98 more coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in the country remained at 946 as no more patient died in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 92, 062 as 98 new cases were diagnosed in that time.

The number of coronavirus variants in the country increased to 7624. Of them, 6, 259 are UK variants, 1,296 South African variants, 67 Indian variants and two Brazilian variants.

So far, 604 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 102 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 94 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS), 84 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), and 62 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 99 coronavirus patients, including 19 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,663 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
