7 more deaths, 462 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The coronavirus death toll in the country has reached 939 as seven more patients died in different hospital districts in the last three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday afternoon.

Out of the deaths, three were reported in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS), two in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), one was reported in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and the rest one in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 91, 619 as 462 new cases were diagnosed in the last three days.

Out of the new cases, 248 infections were diagnosed on Saturday, 121 on Sunday and 93 on Monday.

The number of coronavirus variants in the country remained at 6, 875. Of them, 5,639 are UK variants, 1194 South African variants, 40 Indian variants and two Brazilian variants.

So far, 600 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 102 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 91 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS), 84 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), and 62 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 118 coronavirus patients, including 22 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,655 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
