Helsinki will begin vaccinating local residents belonging to the 45-49 age group on Monday, according to the City of Helsinki.

People born in 1972-1976 can make a vaccination appointment online or over phone.

Vaccinations are being carried out at the vaccination points of Jätkäsaari, Messukeskus, Malmi, and Myllypuro.

“The impact of vaccinations in older age groups is already visible. It should be noted, however, that coronavirus is not just a disease of the elderly and the efficacy of vaccinations is not 100%. That is why as many of us as possible should be vaccinated, so that the epidemic will end one day and we will be able to return to a more normal daily life,” said the city's health stations Medical Director Timo Lukkarinen.

The City of Helsinki uses two different vaccines. People aged 16 to 64 are currently being given the Pfizer vaccine while people aged 65 and more are vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine or, if they wish, the Pfizer vaccine.
