1 more death, 537 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The coronavirus death toll in the country has reached 915 as one more patient died in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS) in the last three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 87, 345 as 537 new cases were diagnosed in the last three days.

Out of the new cases, 288 infections were diagnosed on Saturday, 132 on Sunday and 117 on Monday.

The number of coronavirus variants in the country remained at 5,374. Of them, 4,521 are UK variants, 852 South African variants, and one was Brazilian variant.

So far, 595 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 100 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 82 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 82 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS), and 56 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 120 coronavirus patients, including 28 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,577 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
