4 more deaths, 654 coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The coronavirus death toll in the country has reached 891 as four more patients- three in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) and one in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS)- died in the last three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 84, 287 as 654 new cases were diagnosed in the last three days

Out of the new cases, 498 infections were diagnosed on Saturday and Sunday while 156 on Monday.

The number of coronavirus variants in the country remained at 4, 200. Of them, 3,658 were UK variants, 541 South African variants, and one was Brazilian variant.

So far, 578 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 98 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 81 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 79 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS), and 55 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 166 coronavirus patients, including 34 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,522 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
