6 more deaths,1,017 coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The total number of coronavirus deaths in the country has increased to 874 as six more people died in different hospitals in the last three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday evening.

Out of the deaths, four were reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), one was reported in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS) each.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 82,278 as 1,017 new cases were diagnosed in the last three days

Out of the new cases, 446 infections were diagnosed on Saturday, 346 on Sunday, and 225 on Monday.

The number of coronavirus variants in the country increased to 3,621. Of them, 3,261 were UK variants, 359 South African variants, and one was Brazilian variant.

So far, 567 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 95 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 80 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 77 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS), and 55 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 185 coronavirus patients, including 42 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,486 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
