3 more deaths, 400 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 706 as three more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday.

Out of the deaths, two were reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) while the rest one was reported in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS).

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 48, 807 as 400 new cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.

So far, 475 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 78 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 66 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 55 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and 32 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 116 coronavirus patients, including 16 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 880 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
