4 more deaths, 401 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland rose to 692, as four more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Friday.

Out of the deaths, two were reported in Turku Hospital District (TYKS) while one was reported in Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) and Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District each.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 46, 894 as 401 new cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.

So far 467 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 78 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 61 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 54 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and 32 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 124 coronavirus patients, including 20 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 846 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
