1 more death, 361 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 425 as one more patient died in Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 28,242 as 361 more cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.

So far a total of 321 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 37 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 24 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), 23 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), and 20 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Until Tuesday, 18,100 or more than 70% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 240 coronavirus patients, including 28 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 509 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
