Russia is ready to resume trilateral talks with the United States and Ukraine in mid-November, focusing on establishing a security system for Russia and Ukraine after the conflict ends, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said Wednesday, reported Xinhua.
Russian President Vladimir Putin conveyed Moscow's readiness to U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff during their three-hour meeting in St. Petersburg earlier in the day, Ushakov told reporters.
Ushakov said the possibility of resuming trilateral negotiations was specifically discussed at the meeting. He added that Putin briefed Witkoff on the situation along the line of contact in Ukraine, while Witkoff informed Putin about the recent talks in Oslo, Norway.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of implementing large-scale economic projects between Russia and the United States, some of which are approaching the implementation stage, Ushakov added.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he would agree to a peace deal with Russia that would freeze the conflict along the current frontline, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported Wednesday.
"Right now, we need to freeze the situation. I believe this is a realistic way to put an end to this war," Zelensky said.
He added that following a potential ceasefire, Ukraine would seek security guarantees from U.S. President Donald Trump and European countries.
"The most important thing is peace, and peace supported by security," Zelensky said.
On Tuesday, Zelensky discussed proposals for various ceasefire formats with Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff in Oslo, the capital of Norway.
