Romanian parliament approved Luca Niculescu's government on Tuesday, ending a political crisis that has lasted nearly six months, reported Xinhua.
According to Romania's national news agency Agerpres, of 338 valid votes cast, 280 lawmakers voted in favor of the government's investiture while 58 voted against.
After his government passed the vote of confidence in the parliament, Niculescu said that Romania is coming out of six months of political crisis, and the new government will start working immediately, announcing that the first government meeting will be held on Tuesday evening.
"With emotion and responsibility I received this vote. I thank the Parliament for its trust," he said, "It is an important moment for Romania, we are coming out of six months of crisis."
Romanian President Nicusor Dan designated Niculescu, state secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to form the government on October 5. It is the fourth time Dan has nominated a prime minister this year. He had nominated his adviser Eugen Tomac, President of the Brasov County Council Adrian Vestea and liberal European lawmaker Siegfried Muresan. Tomac resigned and Romanian parliament rejected the cabinets proposed by Vestea and Muresan.
