Two people were killed Wednesday morning when an aircraft crashed near a dam in northern Italy's Piedmont region, local media said, reported Xinhua.
The crash occurred at around 11:30 a.m. local time near the Campiccioli dam in the Antrona Schieranco area near the region's capital city of Turin, according to Ansa news.
The victims were a 60-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman, Ansa said.
Air rescue services were dispatched to the crash site.
Initial reports indicated that the aircraft was an autogyro, also known as a gyroplane, rather than a conventional helicopter. An autogyro is equipped with an overhead rotor that is not directly connected to the engine.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
