British writer Salman Rushdie is set to tour Germany in March to present his latest book, "The Eleventh Hour," reported dpa.

The short tour will kick off with an event in the north-eastern city of Potsdam, just outside Berlin, on March 19, organizers of the city's Lit.Potsdam literary festival said on Monday.

Rushdie also plans to showcase his latest work as part of a literary festival in Cologne on March 20, followed by an event in Munich on March 21.

On March 22 and 23, the Indian-born author will attend a literary festival in Heidenreichstein, Austria.

"The Eleventh Hour," published in November 2025, is Rushdie's first work of fiction since the attack on his life in 2022, which saw a man stab him more than a dozen times during an event in the United States.

US national Hadi Matar was found guilty of attempted murder in the case last year.

Rushdie dealt with the incident in his book "Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder," which was published in 2024.

His latest work is a compilation of five short stories centred on the theme of death.

In 1989, Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini, then leader of the Iranian Revolution, had called for the author's assassination over Rushdie's "The Satanic Verses," a novel that was perceived as blasphemous by some Islamic hardliners.
