A 19-year-old man was arrested after firing a shot inside a shopping center in the Norwegian capital of Oslo on Monday morning, police confirmed, reported Xinhua.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

The shooting occurred at Storo Storsenter, one of Oslo's largest shopping malls. According to the police, the suspect entered the building and fired a single shot from a shotgun into the ceiling.

In addition to the firearm, the man was in possession of a baseball bat and possibly a knife. The suspect notified the police of the incident himself. He has been charged with grave illegal handling of firearms.

"There is nothing to suggest that he attempted to harm anyone," incident commander Tomm Berger was quoted by the Norwegian public broadcaster NRK as saying.

The incident triggered an immediate evacuation of the mall and a large-scale emergency response, with heavily armed police and a helicopter deployed to the scene.

Police declared the area safe and the shopping center reopened around 11:30 a.m. local time (1230 GMT).
