Ex EU foreign policy chief Mogherini accused of fraud

Former European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and two others have been formally accused of procurement fraud and corruption, the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) said Wednesday, reported Xinhua.

The three individuals were detained on Tuesday and questioned by Belgian Federal Judicial police, and were formally notified of the accusations against them.

The accusations concern procurement fraud and corruption, conflict of interest and violation of professional secrecy, the EPPO said in a statement.

They were released after the questioning, as they are not considered a flight risk, the EPPO said.
