Guests treated in hospital after collapsing at German Halloween party

Several people suddenly collapsed at a large Halloween party in an event hall in the south-western German city of Stuttgart on Friday, reported dpa.

The police are investigating whether knockout drops had been administered.

At least 10 partygoers were injured in the city's Wangen district, a police spokesman said on Saturday. They complained of feeling unwell and blackouts. Paramedics treated them on site, and some were then taken to hospital for further treatment. No one suffered serious injuries.

The patients' symptoms could indicate the use of a date rape drug, the police spokesman added, and the people affected also said they suspected they had been given date rape drugs.

A large contingent from the emergency services, fire brigade and police was called out during the night to the public Halloween party. According to reports, rapper Jazeek was due to perform at the party.

The police did not provide any information on how many people were at the party. The mass-circulation Bild newspaper reported that there were around 2,000 people there.
