Norway and Britain on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on a Green Industrial Partnership, reported Xinhua.

"The Green Industrial Partnership will promote green industrial development, build expertise in low-emission sectors, and support value chains for raw materials," the Norwegian government said in a press release.

Key focus areas include carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen, offshore wind, green value chain development, and sustainable energy systems. The two sides also pledged to enhance cooperation in developing green skills.

Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Cecilie Myrseth said, "By combining Norwegian and British strengths, we can create jobs, develop new industries, and enhance our competitiveness."

Norwegian Minister of Climate and Environment Andreas Bjelland Eriksen emphasized that the green transition is essential for achieving climate goals while creating new employment opportunities.

Britain is Norway's second-largest trading partner after the European Union, and bilateral trade reached over 530 billion Norwegian kroner (51.6 billion U.S. dollars) in 2024, according to the Norwegian government.
