Germany saw more than one plane accident every three days on average in 2024, official figures showed on Tuesday, reported dpa.

The Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation recorded 129 incidents last year involving civilian aircraft, 18 more than in 2023.

However, the number of deaths from plane crashes fell from 16 to 12.

Most accidents involved light aircraft weighing up to two tons, with gliders close behind.

The agency, based in the northern city of Braunschweig, has been analyzing accidents and serious incidents involving civil aircraft in Germany since 1998.

Its employees also assist with investigations abroad in cases where planes were registered, manufactured or operated in Germany.
