Lufthansa special flight takes 372 German citizens out of Israel

A special Lufthansa flight has begun bringing German citizens from Israel to Germany as part of an operation organized by the German Foreign Office following the large-scale attack by Islamist militant group Hamas on Israel, reported dpa.

A first flight with 372 German nationals on board took off from Tel Aviv to Frankfurt on Thursday, the Foreign Office in Berlin said.

The flight was organized after some airlines suspended their services to and from Israel and available seats began to fill up. The Foreign Office is bearing almost half of the costs.

A total of four special Lufthansa flights were scheduled to fly German citizens and their relatives from Israel to Munich and Frankfurt on Thursday and Friday.
