A small plane crashed on Sunday during the Borgond air show in central Hungary, resulting in the loss of two lives, according to the National Ambulance Service (OMSZ), reported Xinhua.

The exact circumstances of the crash remain unknown. Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene, and organizers made an immediate decision to suspend all further airshow activities, reported Xinhua.

According to the OMSZ, the aircraft involved was of the Trojan type, built in 1951, and it was in a fiery explosion upon impact with the ground.

According to footage published by a local newspaper, the aircraft flew at a relatively low altitude over the airfield, and attempted an unfinished loop, resulting in a crash into the ground.

A spokesperson for the OMSZ confirmed that two lives were lost, and four others sustained burn injuries. They were passengers in a car that caught fire because of the debris of the plane, according to the local police.

Three seriously injured individuals -- a young girl, a woman and a man -- were airlifted to hospitals in Budapest.
