German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier are expected in Erfurt on Monday for the main German Unity Day celebrations, reported dpa.
The celebrations commemorate the peaceful revolution of 1989 and German reunification 32 years ago.
Bärbel Bas, the president of Germany's Bundestag lower house of parliament, and Thuringian Premier Bodo Ramelow - head of the Bundesrat upper house - will speak at the ceremony at the Erfurt Opera House.
Before the ceremony, representatives of the federal and state governments will gather for an ecumenical service at Erfurt Cathedral.
Steinmeier plans to receive citizens from the country's 16 federal states in the afternoon.
The annual celebrations already began in Erfurt on Saturday. Several tens of thousands of visitors attended.
