Scholz hints at gas price reduction plans

At issue is "how we can reduce the excessively high prices, both those for electricity and those for gas," Scholz said, adding that an expert panel had begun consultations on the issue on Saturday and was doing "very good, constructive" work, reported dpa.

"We will be able to count on quick results," the chancellor added.

All factors had to be considered to achieve this, "so that citizens are not confronted with tasks that are unsolvable for them," Scholz said.

"We will probably get through this winter," he said, in reference to the efforts aimed at increasing gas supplies.
