Turkey confirms 44,869 daily COVID-19 cases

Turkey on Monday reported 44,869 new COVID-19 cases, raising its total tally of infections to 9,597,670, according to its health ministry, reported Xinhua.

The death toll from the virus in Turkey rose by 160 to 82,795, while 27,492 more people recovered in the last 24 hours.

A total of 368,913 tests were conducted over the past day, the ministry said.

Turkey started mass COVID-19 vaccination on Jan. 14 last year after the authorities approved the emergency use of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine.

More than 56.96 million people have received their first doses of the vaccine, while over 51.67 million their second doses. Turkey has so far administered over 132.89 million doses including third booster jabs.
