A gunman killed two bailiffs in the Russian city of Sochi on Wednesday, reported Xinhua, quoting the TASS news agency.

The incident happened when the gunman, a 60-year-old local resident, was trying to resist his eviction from an apartment building, TASS said.

The eviction was a court order, and the building, over which the conflict arose, was recognized in 2020 as an unauthorized construction.

According to preliminary information, the gunman also appeared to have wounded another individual involved in the eviction process.

The suspect was detained and a criminal investigation has been launched into the incident.
