Russia registered 13,634 COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, setting a new all-time high as the pandemic resurges, the country's COVID-19 response center said Sunday, reported Xinhua.

The national total of coronavirus cases has grown to 1,298,718, including 22,597 deaths and 1,020,442 recoveries, the center said in a statement.

Daily coronavirus cases in the capital Moscow have increased by 4,501 with a cumulative toll of 330,418, the center reported.

Along with many other European countries, Russia has been witnessing a steep growth in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks, after many restrictions were lifted and people gathered in large groups during the summer.
