Portuguese president tests negative for COVID-19

Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa tested negative for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, but will continue his voluntary isolation, the website of Presidency announced on Monday.

"The result of the test carried out, in the early afternoon, on the President of the Republic was negative," said a statement published on the Presidency's website.

The president will "continue to work at home until completing the two weeks mentioned in the note released yesterday," the statement added.

Five more COVID-19 cases were reported on Monday in Portugal, bringing the total number to 35.
