The German federal government on Friday agreed on "concrete measures" to achieve its climate targets set for 2030, it announced on its official website.
Major measures include a pricing system for CO2 emissions in the transport and heating sectors, the German Press Agency (DPA) reported, citing an official document.
The CO2 pricing system is planned to be launched in 2021 when the government will issue certificates for a fixed price of 10 euros per tonne of CO2 discharge. By 2025, the price should rise gradually to 35 euros.
The government will also roll out a series of reliefs and incentives for climate protection, such as making railway travel cheaper and flights more expensive.
Germany aims to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 55 percent by 2030 compared to 1990 levels.
