A total of 1,626 new students from 90 countries were offered admission to the international master’s programmes at the University of Helsinki commencing in autumn 2026, said the university in a press release on Wednesday.

The number of qualified students was 44% of the total applicants.

Almost 79% of those are from outside Finland and over 58% from non-EU and non-EEA countries.

In addition to Finland, the highest numbers of admitted students come from China, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh.

The qualified applicants were asked to accept the offer no by July 9.

Earlier 3,739 students applied to the international master’s programmes at the University of Helsinki autumn session this year.

The number of applicants fell by 10% compared to last year, which was in line with the declining national trend.

In addition, around 400 applicants submitted an application but did not pay the application fee, and therefore their applications were not processed.

The most popular programmes this year were once again the Master's Programme in Computer Science and the Master's Programme in Data Science.

There are 33 master’s programmes available at the Master’s Programmes. The highest number of 554 applications was submitted for Computer Science while 551 for Data Science. The Master's Programme in Global Politics and Communications received 305 applications.
