The Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL, Trade Union Pro and the Negotiation Organisation for Public Sector Professionals JUKO on Wednesday decided to withdraw the pre-announced strike scheduled to be observed at the University of Helsinki and University of Turku on May 27.

The unions took the decision as their demand for a collective agreement regarding terms and conditions of employment and pay increases was fulfilled, said the unions in a joint press release.

All negotiating parties told on Wednesday that they approve the conciliation proposal which the National Conciliator Anu Sajavaaran had issued for the collective agreement dispute of universities.

The new agreement including 7.8% pay hike in three years became effective on May 21, 2025 and it covers a period until 31 March 2028.

Reaching an agreement cancelled the strike that was planned for 27 May in Helsinki and Turku, said the press release.
